Hope. A strong word. A powerful feeling. Hope is resilient, hard to destroy. So many times I have felt hopeless, only to be proven wrong. Somewhere deep down there has been a flicker of hope left inside me. Enough to get me through the moment.
And so I have been thinking. What if I stacked up all of the moments I have been able to feel hope? What if I started building a wall of hope? A solid wall. Proof that things will get better. Evidence that I am a survivor.
Surely the wall will be challenged. The world is full of storms and cruel winds. But hope can withstand the challenges of life. My wall of hope will continue to grow. As I get through tough times and enjoy peaceful moments, bricks will be added to my wall. It will survive. I will survive.
I share these thoughts because you can build your own wall of hope. If not a wall, perhaps fill a bucket, plant a tree, or even write a book. If you are one who struggles with feelings of hopelessness, I strongly recommend collecting the moments of hope in your life. When they are all compiled you will realize that you carry a lot more hope than you think. Because deep down always resides a flicker of hope. You may have trouble seeing it, but it is certainly there. And as you keep fighting, moments of hope will pile up. Appreciate them. Be thankful for them.
Hope is always there. Remember that.
